Life can be wonderful, rich and full of joy. And we want it to be that way but all too often our experience doesn't quite match up to this hope. Sometimes life is stressful or can feel as if we're stuck on a treadmill. It doesn't have to be like this!
It is possible to make real and lasting change our experience of life - to reduce the stress and enjoy life more through the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is increasingly recognised as a life-changing way to help deal with the stress and pressure that we can experience from the fast pace of modern life. It allows us to experience life to the full, whatever comes our way.
The 8 week mindfulness course is an opportunity to learn a variety of evidence-based mindfulness practices to help you respond more positively to every day challenges or difficult experiences, helping you build resilience and boost your well being.
The course is perfect for you if you sometimes feel overwhelmed, or worn out by trying to keep up with the constant demands of the modern world. Mindfulness focuses on promoting joy and peace rather than banishing unhappiness. It's precisely focused to help all of us boost our happiness and confidence levels whilst also reducing anxiety, stress and irritability.
The next course will run from 10am - 12.00 on Saturday mornings from 30th January to 20th March 2021.
What to expect: Classes will be two hours per week, with a one-day retreat which usually runs from 10.00am - 3.30pm. The day retreat gives you the opportunity to explore the practices in a more immersive way, and is included in the course cost.
The venue is the warm and welcoming St Werburgh's Community Centre.
There will be seated, lying and gentle movement practices including gentle yoga, along with opportunities to discuss our experience of these practices. Any movement practices can be adapted for people with mobility issues or physical health conditions.
Blankets and mats will be provided for the lying and movement practices. You can choose to sit on a chair, or on the floor for the seated practices. You may want to bring extra layers to keep you warm or a cushion for extra support.
Home practice is part of the course and all the resources you need will be provided to support this.
